生活美語《Florida or bust!》
Florida or bust!
Vera:Gee, this is a great reception. Everyone's having a wonderful time.
Max:Including you. I think you've danced with every man in the room.
Vera:Well, why not? The band's great and they're playing all my favorite tunes.
Max:Look. The bride and groom are getting ready to leave.
Vera:Come on, let's go outside and see them off.…
Max:My god! Look at their car. Tin-cans hanging off the back. And look at all those "Just married" signs they've put on it. The best man and his boys have done a great job.
Vera:And look, there it says "Florida or bust!"
Max:So that's where they're going on their honeymoon.

I think you've danced with every man in the room。這個room當然是指ballroom(舞廳)。 The newlyweds will take to the floor first, to be followed by the best man and the maid of honor, and then by the guests(新郎新娘會先上舞池跳舞,隨後是伴郎和伴娘,跟著是賓客)。Take (to) the floor即「上舞池跳舞」,newlyweds則是新婚夫婦。
Let's go outside and see them off。To see (someone) off是動詞片語(phrasal verb),指「送行」,例如:When she left for the United States, we went to the airport to see her off(她去美國時,我們到機場送行)。
Tin-cans (are) hanging off the back。 For some reason, wedding guests today often tie tin-cans to the going-away car instead of shoes(不知為什麼,今天婚禮的客人往往在蜜月車上綁些空罐,而不是鞋子)。
Florida or bust!... or bust是「努力完成某事」或「努力到達某地」的意思,例如:For him, it is Harvard or bust! He'll do anything to get there(對他來說,非入哈佛大學不可,他會盡力實現心願)。
