維吉妮雅說：Didn't Chloe look gorgeous as she walked down the aisle on her father's arm。On one's arm是指「挽著某人的手走路」，多指女人挽著男人的手，例如：I saw him in the street with a girl on his arm（我在街上看見他，身邊有個女郎，挽著他的手）。
Aisle是教堂、戲院等兩旁座席中間的通道，gorgeous是「漂亮的」或「華麗的」，例如：(1) Is the aisle wide enough for a wheelchair?（座席中間的通道，其寬可容輪椅走過嗎？）(2) I stood admiring the peacock's gorgeous tail（我站著欣賞孔雀斑斕的尾巴）。
維吉妮雅提到一首古歌謠：Something old, something new / Something borrowed, something blue / And a silver sixpence in her shoe（有舊，有新；有借來的，有藍色的；還有一枚六便士銀幣在她鞋子裡）。這歌謠說的是新娘服飾：新娘身上要有些舊東西，例如首飾，來自娘家，象徵家族關係以及往日種種維持不墜；要有些新東西，例如結婚禮服，象徵新的美好生活；要有借得的東西，例如手帕，多來自婚姻幸福的親友，寓意是親友可以信賴，以及借來婚姻幸福；要有藍色的東西，因為藍色代表愛情、貞節。畫家、雕塑家一般給聖母瑪利亞穿上藍色衣服，就是這個道理。從前，新娘禮服崇尚藍色；今天，新娘往往還穿藍色的吊襪帶(garter)。至於那六便士銀幣，放在鞋子裡，祈求的是經濟上無有匱乏。英國一九八○年取消六便士硬幣，婚禮上可用其他硬幣代替。
